Negative effects of fast food on your brain

What’s Your In-N-Out Fix? animal style? Double Meat? A belt-busting 4×4? Sadly, you’re doing more damage than just your pant size. New research from The Ohio State University found that eating highly processed food (read: fast food) for four weeks caused lab animals to perform, on average, worse on memory-related tests than those who ate healthier fare.

Why? These foods are like a Thanos power punch to the brain, causing inflammation.

The silver lining: Researchers found that eating high amounts (500 milligrams per day) of DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, protected memory function almost entirely. Load on the following:

  • salmon
  • chia seeds
  • jute seeds
  • eggs
  • Walnut
  • mackerel
  • hilsa
  • hemp seeds
  • sardines
  • tuna
